Dear Maxey Residents,
There has been to date (23/02/09), 5 burglaries reported to the police in Maxey, along with 1 theft of domestic oil. To have five burglaries in short period of time is of concern to your local neighbourhood policing team. We have been providing extra high visibility policing patrols in the area to offer reassurance to residents and try to prevent any further burglaries.
We have had some good phone calls from vigilant residents reporting suspicious characters and vehicles to us, please keep these type of calls coming in. As a local resident you know who is who in your street. You know what cars should be in the street and what vehicles look out of place. If you suspect that someone is up to no good in your street then contact Cambridgeshire Constabulary on 0845 456 456 4 to report the matter.
To improve contact with your Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) have you considered joining e-cops? It is a free electronic way to find out what is going on in your neighbourhood. Both myself and Pcso Helen Buckingham send out regular e-cop messages informing members what is happening in the area. It is a great way to keep ahead of crime trends and to find out what your local team is doing. To join register at www.cambs.police.uk
Also in Maxey we have a great Neighbourhood Watch scheme. If you would like to find out about your scheme or wish to set a scheme up for your street then please contact Pcso Helen Buckingham on 0845 456 456 4 for more details.
We greatly appreciate calls from residents reporting suspicious incidents. You are the eyes and ears in the rural community. Please report all crime and suspicious activities to the police so that we can make Maxey a safe place to live and work in.
Thank you
Norm McCallum
