Introducing Maxey’s New Neighbourhood Watch
Coordinator - John Neal

You may or may not know that Yvette Mackney the senior coordinator for Maxey will be moving to France and asked for a volunteer to take over her role. Well I was sort of ‘volunteered’ at the last meeting in the village hall in January.

My first job as your ew senior coordinator is to say a very big thank you to Yvette Mackney for her sterling work over the years and leaving me with a very well organised Neighbourhood Watch scheme. My thanks also go to her ‘right-hand man’ Myra Bryant who has held her hand as and when needed. I know there will be times when I will need to call upon Myra’s talents and good nature to guide me through the requirements of my new role.

I moved into the village just over a couple of years ago with my wife Maggie. I retired soon after and my son now runs the business from his home. Maggie took early retirement last year and as usually happens we are very busy doing all those things we always wanted to do.

NHW is the order of the day so here are the pertinent matters.

  • Distraction crime keeps popping up around and about and must be taken seriously by everyone especially the more elderly amongst us.
  • Metal thieves are becoming more prevalent now that the price of all types of metal is on the increase, its not just Lead, even some of the village signs have disappeared.

We are all members of Maxey NHW in the village and I would be pleased to hear from anyone who has concerns about our NHW scheme. If you have a query please contact me.
