Quarterly News Update - August 2008
The summer months are usually quiet as far as the Parish Council is concerned and this year is no exception.
A number of planning issues with proposals for the southern side of the High Street have been refused. It seems to be clear that tandem development will not be allowed. The site at 45 High Street remains a problem and we await a new proposal from the developer. He has been asked to spray the weeds on the site in the meantime.
In the last issue I said that I would have more to say on the Blind Lane site. I am pleased to say that bushes by the road have been trimmed and the area has been tidied up. The site was bought by a developer many years ago, planning permission was granted and footings dug and since then nothing has happened. It is not in the interests of the village for the site to become either dangerous or an eyesore because the outcome of a compulsory purchase would be difficult to envisage.
The Parish Council along with Cllr. Hiller are still working on a number of options on traffic calming and I hope to have more details for the next issue.
The High Street has recently been white lined and a new entrance is planned for Barn Close.
Two new Councillors were welcomed recently; they are Roger Chown and Lynne Yarham.
